The exhibition is an homage to one of the major figures of the contemporary art international scene and focuses on three fundamental aspects of his oeuvre: the artist studio as a space where creation takes place, the body through performances and the exploration of sound.

Kapwani Kiwanga is invited to @labiennale with one Kapwani Kiwanga is invited to @labiennale with one of the most ambitious commissions of the year. Her work is visible in the Arsenale.

"Terrarium" creates a maze-like environment populated by
Kiwanga's sand-filled glass sculptures. Her vast paintings are intended to introduce variability and fluidity into the
architecture of the Corderie and to bring the luminous colour of an exterior landscape into the building's interior. The
installation imagines sand as a political material: a harmful product of the oil industry, the raw material for glass, and a
reminder of an increasingly arid planet.

Representing Greece 🇬🇷at the 59th Venice Bie Representing Greece 🇬🇷at the 59th Venice Biennale, the artist Loukia Alavanou restages an ancient drama to reflect contemporary events.

“Oedipus in Search of Colonus” curated by Heinz Peter Schwerfel, is a 15-minute VR film that transposes an almost 2500-year-old drama by Sophocles into the present and tells the story through a combination of docufiction, video clip, farce, and immersive technology.

Four hemispherical domes are installed in the pavilion. Each has space for three to five posture chairs, which are based on the designs of the Greek utopian architect Takis Zenetos.

The entire pavilion is kept in semi-darkness, creating a simultaneously theatrical and mysterious atmosphere that forms an island of reflection in the middle of the world's biggest art exhibition.

The several-metre-tall sandbag monument represents the heritage sites currently being protected by locals in Ukraine; community groups cover statues in sandbags to limit the damage being inflicted by the attacks.

The open-air installation is designed by Ukrainian architect Dana Kosmina and curated by Borys Filonenko, Lizaveta German and Maria Lanko

“Satellite” it’s form recalls that of a D’mba, a bust of a woman used by the Baga people of West Africa to commune with their ancestors (and later appropriated by European modernists like Picasso). Leigh turns the D’mba form minimal, substituting its angular face for a spoon-like form.
